I'm back again this week with another clean and simple card design, this time featuring the Fancy Phrases stamp set from Stampin' Up! This set is part of a bundle option that includes a beautiful tag-topper punch to really add to the fun! So as I was unpacking from our recent move from CT to NC, I realized I'm very low on birthday cards. I thought I'd add to my stash this week by creating a clean and simple birthday card using one, simple stamp set, two ink pads and a few embellishments.
I started with a base card in BASIC WHITE, cut it to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and scored it at 4-1/4 by placing the long edge at the top of my trimmer/scoring tool. I used Calypso Coral ink to stamp the big floral image from the Fancy Phrases stamp set. I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies to cut a little sentiment panel out of Pool Party card stock and stamped the Birthday sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Before attaching to the base card, I wrapped some pink twine from the Snail Mail twine combo pack around three fingers, three times and created a little "twine nest". I attached this to my base card with adhesive and placed the sentiment panel over top of it with dimensional adhesive. I finished off the card with a few pool party sequins from the Artistry Blooms sequins pack, rounded the top right corners with my corner rounder tool, and added a sentiment to the inside of the card. These could be created in all kinds of color combinations and for all different occasions! What theme of card do you need for your card stash?!
Whenever I'm creating cards for my own personal use (vs. to sell), I love to decorate the envelopes, too. I stamped that same floral image on the outside of the envelope, so it coordinates with the card itself. This alerts the recipient that there is FUN inside---this is not a bill! :) And it adds some extra smiles.
